    Small Class Sizes

You will get to know your professors

It has been proven that students learn faster and perform better in smaller classes.

A class size of fewer than 20 students often results in more individual attention, increased participation, and better communication between the instructor and students.

Newman students not only receive more feedback from their peers and instructors, they also tend to encounter more opportunities for hands-on learning than those in large classes.

The small class difference can be found across our campus:

    • Student population: approximately 2,764
    • Average class size: 20 or less
    • 11 to 1 Faculty to Student Ratio
    • All classes are taught by Faculty
    • One-on-one independent studies

This means you have the space to collaborate, the confidence to ask questions, and the freedom to share your ideas.

You will be able to connect with your professors both inside and outside the classroom — during office hours, walking across campus, or over coffee downtown.

These meaningful interactions will guide you througout your degree and help you figure out your future.

I really enjoy being here at Newman-- just because of the smaller classes. And so it's a little bit more of a tight knit community and it's definitely more comfortable being in an art class that I can be more open about myself, and the subjects that I like to paint in my art.

I love it here it is seriously been amazing. I mean, I was super nervous going into college, coming from out of state and not knowing anybody out here. But everyone was just so welcoming. And I mean, it's a smaller school, so-- which helps a lot the professor's just really work with you, and make sure you understand the material and I mean, it's just feels like a really personal experience, which I love.

At Newman, you're not going to be a number. Your professors will know your name. They will know you. Many professors will even text their students. They'll share the number-- I share my number. We're very much a family here at Newman. We all know each other, our classes are small, and we want to do everything we can to support you.
